Louisiana Man Killed In Single-Vehicle Crash On Messina Road, State Police Say

Rapides Parish, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that left a Boyce man dead Saturday afternoon in Rapides Parish.

According to a news release from Louisiana State Police Troop E, the fatal incident occurred on November 22, 2025, at approximately 1:18 p.m. on Messina Road at Kincaid Boat Road. The crash claimed the life of 64-year-old Wendell A. Lovette of Boyce.

Troopers’ initial investigation shows that Lovette was driving a 2003 Subaru Baja north on Messina Road when, for reasons still under investigation, he lost control of the vehicle. The Subaru left the roadway and struck a tree.

State Police reported that Lovette was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

As is standard procedure in fatal crashes, routine toxicology samples were collected from Lovette and submitted for analysis. Results have not yet been released. No other vehicles or people were reported to be involved in the incident.

Louisiana State Police did not immediately provide additional details about potential contributing factors, such as speed, road conditions, or possible medical issues. The crash remains under investigation.
