Louisiana Man Faces Life Sentence After Being Found Guilty of a 2019 Second Degree Murder
On October 3, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office announced that Nathaniel Mitchell III, 43, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was found guilty as charged on one count of Second Degree Murder.
Mitchell shot and killed the victim in 2019, and then burned the victim’s body.
Mitchell is facing a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of probation, parole, or sentence suspension and is being held without bond. The sentencing date has been set for November 23, 2022, before Judge Michael Canaday.
The case was prosecuted by Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office Assistant District Attorneys Jacob Johnson and Taylor Alexander.
