Denham Springs, Louisiana – Just before 2:00 p.m. on March 21, 2024, Louisiana State Police Troop A Troopers arrived at the scene of a single vehicle crash on LA 1019 near Amite Church Road in Livingston Parish. The crash resulted in the death of 74-year-old Alex Robeau Jr. from Denham Springs, Louisiana.

The initial inquiry found that Robeau was driving a 2014 Chevy Silverado northbound on LA 1019. The Silverado inexplicably veered off the road while attempting to navigate a right-hand curve, hitting two trees.

Robeau was not properly restrained according to police, and was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries. Even though impairment is not believed to be a factor, regular toxicology tests will be conducted and sent for examination.

Although not all crashes can be survived, data indicates that wearing your seat belt correctly significantly decreases the likelihood of severe injury or death in a crash. In Louisiana, it is mandatory for all individuals in a vehicle to wear their seat belt regardless of where they are seated. Ensuring that you are properly buckled up is a highly effective method for protecting yourself and minimizing injuries in the event of a collision.
