Hammond, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Troop L started looking into a two-car collision on U.S. Hwy 190 at South Baptist Road in Tangipahoa Parish on April 15, just after 5:15 p.m. Sadly, the crash resulted in the death of 45-year-old Eric Cook from Hammond, Louisiana.

The initial investigation indicated that the crash happened when a 2018 Honda CRV, driven by 24-year-old Victoria Reid of Covington, Louisiana was heading east on U.S. Hwy 190 and approaching the intersection at South Baptist Road where the traffic light was red. Meanwhile, a 2020 Toyota Corolla, driven by Cook, was traveling north on South Baptist Road towards the intersection at U.S. Hwy 190 where the traffic light was green. For reasons that are still being looked into, the Honda reportedly entered the intersection while the traffic light was still red and collided with the Toyota.

Even though Cook was wearing a seatbelt, he suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died. Reid, who was also wearing a seatbelt, only suffered minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital. The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
