Saint Rose, Louisiana – A tragic motorcycle crash occurred shortly before midnight on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, claiming the life of 54-year-old Keith Gaubert of Saint Rose, Louisiana. Louisiana State Police Troop B was alerted to the single-vehicle incident on LA 626 (Saint Rose Avenue) at Barry Street.
According to preliminary investigations, Gaubert was riding a 2024 Indian Motorcycle southbound on LA 626 when, for reasons that remain unclear, the motorcycle veered off the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle collided with a mailbox before it returned to the roadway, where Gaubert lost control and was ejected from the vehicle.
Despite wearing a Department of Transportation (DOT)-approved helmet at the time of the crash, Gaubert was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that impairment is currently unknown; however, standard toxicology samples were collected and are being analyzed for further information.
The incident is still under investigation, and authorities are working to determine the exact circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
Motorcycle crashes can often result in severe injuries or fatalities due to the lack of protection compared to other vehicles. Helmets, like the one Gaubert was wearing, are designed to reduce the risk of head injuries in the event of a crash.
