Delhi, Louisiana – A single-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 80, just east of Delhi, Louisiana, claimed the life of 59-year-old Michael Fairley of Grambling early Sunday morning. According to Louisiana State Police Troop F, troopers responded to the scene shortly after 3:00 a.m. on July 6, 2025, following reports of a serious incident involving a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe.

The initial investigation found that Fairley was driving eastbound when his vehicle left the roadway for reasons still under review, eventually striking a tree. Authorities confirmed that Fairley was properly restrained with a seat belt at the time of the crash, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, also wearing seat belts, were uninjured and did not require medical treatment.

Impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash. However, as part of standard procedure in fatal incidents, troopers collected routine toxicology samples from Fairley to be analyzed later. The investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing.
