Walker, Louisiana – Shortly after 12:30 a.m. on January 7, 2026, a 21-year-old Walker man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 447 near Avants Road in Livingston Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.

Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to the incident after being dispatched to a report of a heavily damaged vehicle off the roadway. The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Jowarski Nedd of Walker.

Traffic Stop Attempt Preceded Crash

Based on the preliminary investigation, Louisiana State Police reported that the incident began when officers with the Walker Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a white 2024 Honda Accord.

The attempted stop occurred on LA 447 at U.S. 190 for a traffic violation. Police say the driver of the Honda refused to stop and fled northbound on LA 447.

Officers pursued the vehicle but later ended the pursuit after they lost sight of the Honda. Authorities did not immediately release specific details about the traffic violation or the duration of the pursuit, and no injuries to officers or other motorists were reported in connection with the attempted stop.

A short time after the pursuit was terminated, Troop A Troopers were dispatched to a single-vehicle crash on LA 447 near Avants Road, also in Livingston Parish.

According to investigators, Nedd was identified as the driver of the white 2024 Honda Accord involved in the crash. Troopers say the vehicle was traveling north on LA 447 when Nedd failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway.

The Honda then exited the left side of the highway and struck several trees. The impact caused significant damage to the vehicle.

Louisiana State Police reported that Nedd was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have not yet determined whether impairment played a role in the incident. Louisiana State Police noted that impairment is unknown at this time.

As is standard procedure in fatal crashes, toxicology samples will be obtained and submitted for analysis. Toxicology tests check for the presence of alcohol, drugs, or other substances that could affect a person’s ability to drive safely.

The results of those tests typically take additional time to process and were not immediately available.

Authorities did not release further details about the initial traffic violation, the pursuit, or the exact time gap between the end of the pursuit and when the crash was discovered.
