Laplace, Louisiana - A 19-year-old man from LaPlace died after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 10 in St. John the Baptist Parish following a series of crashes that occurred in the early morning hours of November 1, 2025.
William Ferguson was pronounced dead on November 6, 2025, after sustaining severe injuries from the incident, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers responded to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m. on November 1 on I-10 eastbound near U.S. 51 in St. John the Baptist Parish. Investigators determined that three separate crashes occurred within moments of each other in close proximity.
The first crash involved a Nissan and a Honda, which left the Honda disabled in the roadway. A short time later, a 2022 Dodge Charger struck the disabled Honda in a second crash.
Ferguson was a passenger in the 2022 Dodge Charger. Before emergency personnel arrived at the scene, he exited the vehicle and was walking in the crash area when a 2023 Dodge Charger struck him.
Emergency responders transported Ferguson to a local hospital with severe injuries. Investigating troopers were notified five days later that Ferguson succumbed to his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
