Louisiana Man Cited for Multiple Violations of Hunting Guide Regulations

Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has cited a Louisiana man from Kaplan, Louisiana, for allegedly violating hunting guide regulations in Vermilion Parish.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries stated on December 22, 2022, that Enforcement Agents cited a Kaplan, Louisiana man on December 19 for alleged guided hunting offenses in Vermilion Parish.

Agents cited Ryan C. Frederick, 43, for six counts of violating hunting guide regulations.

When they learned that Frederick’s license had been revoked at the beginning of the hunting season, agents began their investigation of him. Frederick is prohibited from possessing a hunting guide license until 2027 due to a revoked license.

Agents were able to set up surveillance on Frederick on multiple occasions and reportedly observed him leading clients on geese hunts in a rice field near Kaplan, Louisiana. The name of Frederick’s hunting guiding company was Feathered Rice Outfitters.

Agents were able to get client statements regarding Frederick’s services and discovered Frederick’s ledger, which detailed monetary compensation for past and prospective guided hunts.

On December 19, agents contacted Frederick at his home and cited him for illegally guiding geese hunts.

Infractions of hunting guide laws and regulations incur a fine of $400 to $950 per violation.

Corporal Derek Logan, Senior Agent Joshua Segrest, Sergeant Mike Hebert, Agent Chelsea Moudry, Sergeant Justin Sonnier, and Senior Agent Matt Perkins are participating as agents.
