Louisiana Man Charged with Murder in Connection with Death of a Teenage Girl from an Overdose

Lafourche Parish, Louisiana – Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced that a man from Larose, Louisiana has been charged with murder in connection with the death of a teenage girl in October 2022 from an overdose. Blayne Terrebonne, 19, is facing second-degree murder charges. In the course of the investigation, he had previously been arrested for drug distribution.

Deputies responded to a Galliano residence shortly before 4:30 a.m. on October 27, 2022, in reference to a 16-year-old male showing signs of a possible overdose. The boy regained consciousness after receiving two Narcan doses and was transported to a hospital for further treatment. Deputies responded to a call at another Galliano residence less than three hours later, where a 15-year-old girl was found dead of a suspected drug overdose.

Investigators quickly determined that the two incidents were connected, and Terrebonne was arrested later that day. Sergio Perez, 18, of Cut Off, and Anthony Francis, 21, of Larose were later arrested in connection with the case. All were charged with drug distribution. Perez is still being held at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex, but Terrebonne and Francis were granted bail in November 2022.

The girl had purchased what she thought was a Percocet pill from Terrebonne the night before her death, according to investigators. Investigators discovered that the pill was made entirely of fentanyl. An autopsy performed by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office determined that she died as a result of a drug overdose. She had a high level of fentanyl in her blood at the time of her death, according to a toxicology report. Following the receipt of these findings, detectives obtained a warrant for Terrebonne’s arrest for second-degree murder.

On January 25, 2023, investigators apprehended Terrebonne and arrested him. On a warrant for one count of second-degree murder, he was booked into the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex. The bail amount is set at $500,000.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
