Joel Champagne of Baton Rouge, Louisiana was taken into custody on October 17, 2024, after traveling from his residence in Baton Rouge to a meeting location in St. Tammany Parish with the intent to engage in sexual activity with a 14-year-old juvenile. According to authorities, Champagne had been identified as the suspect in an investigation initiated on September 27, 2024, after he attempted to solicit a minor through online means.
