Louisiana Man Arrested Suspected of Principal to 2nd-Degree Murder in Connection with a Drug Overdose that Resulted in a Death

West Baton Rouge Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested and is suspected of principal to 2nd-degree murder in connection with a drug overdose that resulted in a death.

On April 18, 2023, Sheriff Mike Cazes with the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that Russell Daigle, 32, of Port Allen, Louisiana has been arrested and charged with Principal to 2nd-Degree Murder.

Deputies responded to a trailer park community on Lafiton Lane in Port Allen, Louisiana on April 12, 2023, for an unconscious person caused by a drug overdose, according to reports. The victim, Samuel Moore, 30, of Port Allen, Louisiana died as a result of the drug overdose.

Investigators were able to gather and confirm information about Daigle’s role in Samuel Moore’s death and he was arrested and charged with Principal to 2nd Degree Murder. The bond for Russell Daigle has been set at $900,000.

Authorities indicated that the investigation is ongoing.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
