Louisiana Man Arrested Suspected of May 5 Murder, Authorities Still Seeking More Information

On May 9, 2022, the New Orleans Police Department announced that Terry Blanks, 33, of New Orleans, LA, was arrested on a murder charge in the investigation of a homicide that occurred on May 5, 2022, in the 1900 block of Saint Ann Street.

On May 5, shortly before 11:45 a.m., NOPD First District officers conducting a wellness check at the location discovered an unresponsive male victim inside an apartment with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim in this incident was identified as 48-year-old Edward Moore by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on May 9.

Detectives from the New Orleans Police Department’s Homicide Unit conducted an investigation and positively identified Blanks as the perpetrator in this incident. An arrest warrant for Blanks was issued on one count of second-degree murder.

Blanks, who was previously incarcerated in connection with his arrest on charges stemming from the investigations of an armed carjacking and an aggravated battery by shooting that both occurred on the same day in the same block, was re-booked on the second-degree murder charge on May 9.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information on this homicide incident to contact New Orleans PD Homicide Detective Lucretia Gantner at 504-658-5300.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
