Louisiana Man Arrested Suspected of Cruelty to a Juvenile After Video Posted on Social Media Prompts Calls to Authorities
Lake Charles, LA – A Louisiana man has been arrested suspected of cruelty to a juvenile after a video posted on social media prompted calls to authorities.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported on June 8, 2023, that on June 2, CPSO Special Victims Unit detectives received many complaints regarding cruelty to a juvenile after a video was posted on social media.
According to CPSO reports, when detectives watched the video during the investigation, they saw the suspect, later identified as Christopher J. Jolivette, 32, of Lake Charles, Louisiana physically assaulting a girl under the age of ten. Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Jolivette after additional investigation. On June 7, he turned himself in and was arrested, booked, and charged with cruelty to a juvenile at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Later that day, he was released on a $95,000 bond set by Judge Tony Fazzio.
Jolivette was also determined to have an active LCPD warrant for child desertion.
Detective Sonny Schiro of the CPSO is the case’s principal investigator.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
