Louisiana Man Arrested Suspected in Multiple Vehicle Burglaries in Carlyss Area
Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – A man from Louisiana has been arrested and is suspected of committing multiple vehicle burglaries in the Carlyss area.
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported on May 19, 2023, that on May 17, the CPSO Vehicle Crimes Investigative Unit detectives responded to Sterlington Place Subdivision in Carlyss, Louisiana in reference to multiple vehicle burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours, with several firearms reported stolen.
In the initial investigation, detectives analyzed video surveillance and were able to identify the suspect’s automobile, a Cadillac SUV, as well as the registered owner of the vehicle after employing several law enforcement investigative resources. After a search warrant execution at the registered owner’s residence, investigators made contact with the inhabitants and learned Shawn R. Slusher, 46, Sulphur, Louisiana was in possession of the SUV at the time of the crimes.
Slusher was apprehended without incident a short time later at a residence in the Carlyss neighborhood. Slusher was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center after detectives spoke with him.
He is charged with four counts of simple burglary, three charges of theft of a firearm, one offense of theft under $1,000, and possession of CDS II, which was discovered on his person. His bond was set at $97,500 by Judge Tony Fazzio.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are possible.
The cases are being investigated by CPSO VCIU Investigators James Rathke and Christopher Sharp.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
