Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection with October 2022 Robbery Gone Bad and Other Crimes

Ascension Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested in connection with an October 2022 robbery gone bad and other crimes.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office has reported that Kayden Joseph Killian has turned himself in, in connection with an October 2022 robbery case. He was arrested and taken to the Ascension Parish Jail. He is suspected of second-degree murder, attempted armed robbery, criminal conspiracy/armed robbery, fentanyl, clonazolam, and marijuana possession.

Deputies responded to reports of a shooting on John Broussard Road in Prairieville, Louisiana on October 25, 2022. When deputies arrived, they discovered Travis Richardson Jr., 19, dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Authorities also discovered a vehicle that had been hit by gunshots while driving away from the location. Kayden Killain was inside the vehicle and had a gunshot wound; he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Detectives discovered throughout their investigation that Killain and Richardson had planned to rob a male victim at the home where the incident occurred the day before. Killain and Richardson arrived at the residence in the same vehicle and attempted the heist. During this moment, the target opened fire on Richardson, who was also armed. Before fleeing, the subject fired several rounds at Killain. Investigators interviewed the subject about the shooting event, and he was charged with marijuana possession with intent to distribute and illegal carry of weapons.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
