Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection with November 30 Shooting at Lounge in Lake Charles
Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Lake Charles Police Department (LCPD) confirmed on November 30, 2022, that police were summoned to a lounge in the 500 block of Broad Street in regard to a shooting at around 1:35 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2022.
Officers reportedly discovered many victims of gunshot wounds upon their arrival and found that some of the wounded had been transferred privately to local hospitals for treatment. Acadian Ambulance arrived on the scene and transferred one victim to a nearby hospital, while LCPD Patrol Officers transported two victims.
There were eight known victims at the time this article was published.
On Wednesday, November 30, at 10:45 a.m., two patients had been treated and released, three were in critical condition, and three were in stable condition.
One person was apprehended near the shooting site. LCPD Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect during the course of their investigation, which included witness interviews and evidence collecting.
Damien Deshone Guidry, Jr., 20, of Welsh, Louisiana, was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on seven counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of inciting riot causing serious bodily injury.
On all charges, Judge Tony Fazzio has ordered no bond.
Detectives discovered the vehicle, a gray Buick Enclave, which allegedly had been driven by the suspect to the 500 block of Broad Street before the shooting. The car was handled by LCPD Evidence Officers and Detectives after a search warrant was obtained. A .223 rifle and a .762 rifle were reportedly recovered from the suspect vehicle’s back floorboard.
