Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection with Illegal Narcotic Sales Activity and Other Crimes in Sabine Parish

Sabine Parish, Louisiana – A man from Louisiana has been arrested in connection with illegal narcotic sales activity and other crimes in Sabine Parish.

On June 25th of 2023, Sheriff Aaron Mitchell from the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office made an announcement regarding the arrest of Donnie Ray Downs, who is 56 years old and a resident of Florien, Louisiana and was arrested on Friday afternoon on June 23rd, 2023.

For several months, the Tactical Narcotics Team of Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Department has been conducting an inquiry into Downs’ involvement in illicit drug sales. As a result of their investigation, Agent B. Jones of T.N.T. was authorized to issue an arrest warrant for Downs and a search warrant for his residence and land situated in the 400 Block of Ash Pond Road near Plainview Road in Florien, Louisiana.

During the search, T.N.T. Agents found and confiscated methamphetamine, marijuana, digital scales, a grinder, and three guns.

At the moment when it occurred, Down had three small children present inside his residence. They had reportedly been subjected to his unlawful drug activities. The Louisiana Department of Child & Family Services was alerted and they arrived to conduct an investigation at the scene. The kids were taken to a secure location with trusted individuals like relatives and acquaintances.

Downs was taken into police custody and processed for incarceration at the Sabine Parish Detention Center on the charges of possession of marijuana, as well as meth with the intention to distribute, drug paraphernalia, and possession of firearms in the presence of controlled substances. In addition, they were charged with using controlled substances in the presence of minors.

The 11th Judicial District Court has not yet established any bail amount.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
