Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection with Heroin Drug Trafficking Operation

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – The Baton Rouge Police Department confirmed on August 14, 2022, that throughout the previous month, the BRPD Narcotics Division, supported by other BRPD Specialized Divisions, launched an investigation into 41-year-old Cedric Kelly’s suspected heroin distribution operation.

During the course of the investigation, police discovered three locations where Kelly and others were stashing, processing, and distributing enormous amounts of heroin.
Three separate search warrants were executed by the BRPD Narcotics Division, with support from the BRPD SRT, BRPD CGIC, BRPD SCU, and the DEA/HIDTA Task Force.

The search warrants resulted in the following seizures and arrest.

Items Seized:

  • Approximately 704 grams of heroin
  • Approximately 258 grams of black tar heroin
  • Approximately 103 grams of methamphetamine
  • Approximately 75.3 grams of marijuana
  • $10,405 in U.S. Currency
  • Ruger 9mm
  • Desert Eagle 40 caliber
  • Smith & Wesson 40 caliber
  • Glock 21 45 caliber

Cedric Kelly, 41 years of age, was arrested and placed in East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for:

  • Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS Schedule I (Heroin)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS Schedule I (Marijuana)
  • Possession with Intent to Distribute CDS Schedule II (Methamphetamine)
  • Illegal Carrying of Firearm with CDS
  • Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
