Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection with Burglary After Allegedly Breaking into a Camper Through a Storage Compartment
Louisiana – The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on August 17, 2022, that on August 13, 2022, deputies responded to a call on North Frontage Road in Iowa, Louisiana, in response to a complaint of vandalism to a residence. When the complainant returned home, she discovered that someone had broken into her camper, rummaged through her things, and taken numerous items.
Deputies discovered that her camper was entered through a storage compartment door on the outside, which had a damaged lock. The suspect crawled up into the camper from beneath the bed.
On August 15, 2022, the victim contacted the Sheriff’s Office, stating that she was with a witness who had information about items stolen from her camper. Detectives collected information from the victim and a witness that identified a neighbor as the culprit in her camper burglary.
A warrant was obtained for Robert Lee Read, 40, of North Frontage Road, Iowa, Louisiana. Read was arrested and put into the parish jail for simple burglary, theft, and simple criminal damage to property.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
