Louisiana Man Arrested in Connection with $35K Worth of Drugs, Firearms, and Other Charges

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – On December 1, 2022, the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office revealed that Narcotics deputies, with the cooperation of the Baton Rouge DEA, had launched an investigation into a suspected street-level fentanyl and heroin distributor named Davante Johnson during the previous month. Agents launched their investigation after receiving information that Johnson was distributing Fentanyl in and around Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

As a result, Agents obtained search warrants for two addresses: the 11000 Block of Red Oak Drive in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the 14000 Block of Airline Highway in Gonzales, Louisiana. (Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office and Gonzales Police Department).

Reports indicated that the following arrest and seizures were a result:

Seized Narcotics

  • 14 ounces of Fentanyl (approximate street value $31,500)
  • 2 ounces of Heroin (approximate street value $4,000)
  • Blender and cutting agent

Seized Firearms and Currency

  • Glock M 43 9mm handgun (reported stolen through BRPD)
  • Glock M 43 9mm handgun
  • Glock M17 9mm handgun
  • Glock M27 40 caliber handgun
  • Taurus 9mm handgun
  • $2,841 (pending seizure)

Arrested: Davante Johnson, 25

  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule II (Fentanyl)
  • Possession with intent to distribute Schedule I (Heroin)
  • Possession of a Firearm with CDS
  • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Divisions that assisted in this case include EBRSO K9 (Interdiction), DEA Baton Rouge Task Force, National Guard Air Support, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Gonzales Police Department.

Authorities also reported that a large portion of this case was made possible by the Fentanyl overtime funding provided by the State via Senator Bodi White.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
