Louisiana Man Arrested for Suspected Bank Fraud After Allegedly Cashing Two Fraudulent Checks

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested for suspected bank fraud after allegedly cashing two fraudulent checks.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office (JDSO) announced on March 28, 2023, that on December 30, 2022, they launched an investigation into theft by fraud after a complainant reported a fraudulent check had posted to her account.

Robert Lee Ellender, 41, of Lake Charles, Louisiana was identified as the suspect by JDSO detectives.

Ellender is accused of cashing two fraudulent checks, one for $125.00 and the other for $150.00. Ellender was arrested on March 27, 2023, after an arrest warrant was acquired. Ellender is currently being held in Jefferson Davis Jail on two counts of bank fraud.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
