Louisiana Man Arrested for Suspected Armed Robbery Following a Shooting Incident and Pursuit
Louisiana – On June 23, 2022, Louisiana State Police reported that Troopers began investigating a shooting incident that occurred in the parking lot of the Office of Motor Vehicle (OMV) building at 2150 Westbank Expressway in Harvey, Louisiana, shortly after 1:00 p.m. There were no reported injuries as a result of the shooting.
According to Louisiana State Police, the incident occurred when a male subject, later identified as 35-year-old Kevin Fair, was seen running after two people in the parking lot, according to the initial investigation. Fair discharged a firearm while pursuing the individuals. Fair fled the scene in a vehicle belonging to one of the victims after being confronted by a DPS Police Officer providing security at the OMV location.
When a nearby Trooper saw the vehicle leave the parking lot, he initiated a traffic stop. Fair refused to stop and ran away from the Troopers. During the chase, Fair collided with a vehicle on Peters Road near 4th Street, where he was apprehended without incident.
Fair had a medical emergency while in custody and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Upon medical clearance, Troopers transported Fair to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where he was booked on criminal charges for Armed Robbery; Aggravated Assault with a Firearm and Flight from an Officer.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed. More information will be made available as it becomes available.
