Louisiana Man Arrested for Murder After Allegedly Shooting His Brother in Chalmette

St. Bernard Parish, Louisiana – The St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office apprehended a man from Chalmette, Louisiana for the alleged fatal shooting of his own brother.

Sheriff James Pohlmann stated that a man from Chalmette, Louisiana was apprehended by the St. Bernard Sheriff’s Office for the murder of his brother on Saturday evening in Chalmette.

Kenneth Weiskopf, 25, of Chalmette, Louisiana was charged with the crime of second-degree murder.

Sheriff Pohlmann stated that on the evening of June 24, 2023, at around 8:40 p.m., law enforcement officials received a report about a shooting incident that occurred on Paris Road in Chalmette, Louisiana. Deputies were dispatched to the location.

Upon the deputies’ arrival, they reportedly witnessed a man who appeared to be an adult lying on the ground and experiencing the effects of a gunshot injury.

The sheriffs encountered another man who reportedly claimed to be the person who shot someone, and he identified the victim as his brother. This suspect was later identified as Kenneth Weiskopf.

Throughout the investigation, investigators from the Criminal Investigations Bureau confirmed that the two siblings had engaged in a physical altercation, during which Kenneth Weiskopf had drawn a weapon and fired it, ultimately injuring his own brother.

The injured person was taken to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he did not survive.

Weiskopf was taken to St. Bernard Parish Prison in order to complete the necessary procedures related to the charges mentioned previously.

According to the Sheriff, the inquiry is still in progress.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
