Louisiana Man Arrested for Cruelty to Juveniles After Hospital Reports 2-Year-Old with Severe Injuries

Sulphur, LA – According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, on April 28, 2022, at approximately 3:00 p.m., CPSO was dispatched to a local hospital in reference to a two-year-old girl who had severe injuries all over her body. Detectives learned during the initial investigation that the two-year-old and a four-year-old were in the care of Jocson D. Silva, 21, of Sulphur, LA. Silva was also found to have physically abused both of the children, according to the investigation.

Silva was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 2nd degree cruelty to juveniles; and cruelty to juveniles. His bond has not yet been set.
Due to the severity of her injuries, the two-year-old was airlifted to a hospital outside of town. She’s still in critical condition.

The investigation is continuing. Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Kimberly Curran is the lead investigator on this case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
