Louisiana Man Arrested for Attempted Murder and Aggravated Arson After Allegedly Starting a Fire Inside a Home During Domestic Dispute

Louisiana – The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (LASFM) revealed on September 27, 2022, that they arrested an Amite man for allegedly starting a fire inside his home after a domestic dispute while a woman and the couple’s toddler were inside.

Eddie Davis, 31, of Amite, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and one count each of Aggravated Arson and Domestic Abuse Child Endangerment in the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.

Nancy Tyler, 29, was also arrested in connection with the incident on a charge of Simple Arson.

Tangipahoa Fire District #1 responded to a complaint of a house fire in the 56000 block of Bickham Chapel Road around noon on Monday, September 26.
Firefighters discovered the incident was the latest in a day-long argument between the couple residing in the property, which began earlier in the day when the woman allegedly set the man’s clothes on fire outdoors.

The pair were detained on the scene due to the suspicious circumstances surrounding the case, and State Fire Marshal (LASFM) deputies were asked to investigate.
Deputies concluded there were many intentionally caused fires in and around the residence after assessing the situation, and the couple was arrested. The child was given to relatives.
The LASFM thanked Tangipahoa Fire District #1 Fire Prevention Bureau for their assistance in resolving this issue as fast as possible.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
