Louisiana Man Arrested For Attempted Murder After Allegedly Shooting 10-Year-Old-Child
Union Parish, Louisiana – A man from Louisiana was arrested for attempted murder after allegedly shooting a 10-year-old child.
The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office (UPSO) stated on April 30, 2023, that on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at approximately 8:30 AM, UPSO deputies and the Marion Police Department responded to a location near Marion, Louisiana in response to a call involving a firearm. Deputies arrived to find a 10-year-old child wounded in the leg and the suspect, Sancarlos Cordes Traylor, 32, of Marion, Louisiana, holding others at gunpoint after shooting the child.
Another family member was able to get Traylor’s gun away from him, and they all fled the premises to meet with police and medical professionals.
Traylor was arrested after deputies and investigators from the UPSO Criminal Investigations Division (CID) approached him in Marion, Louisiana. When paramedics arrived, they discovered a bullet entry and exit wound in the child’s thigh. The child was taken to a medical facility for additional care.
The victim informed deputies that the fight started because the child’s mother refused to come home to see Traylor. Traylor’s vehicle reportedly contained a .40 caliber handgun, and a single-round casing was recovered from the scene of the incident. Traylor was discovered to be a convicted criminal and unable to legally possess a firearm.
Traylor was arrested for Attempted First Degree Murder and Possession of a Firearm or Carrying of a Concealed Weapon by a Person Convicted of Certain Felonies and booked into the Union Parish Detention Center.
