Louisiana Man Arrested for Allegedly Starting a Fire that Damaged 4 Businesses
Louisiana – The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (LASFM) reported on June 14, 2022, that they arrested a Jeanerette, Louisiana, man for allegedly starting a fire that damaged four businesses. Roger Hogan, 58, was arrested on June 13 for Simple Arson and Criminal Trespass.
The Jeanerette Fire Department responded to a report of a multi-commercial structure fire in the 1300 block of Main Street in the late evening hours of June 2.
Deputies determined the fire started in a shed connected to one commercial building after inspecting the scene. The fire and smoke then spread, causing varying degrees of damage to four separate structures. Deputies learned that Hogan, who was homeless, was known to seek shelter in the shed without permission on occasion.
On June 13, Hogan was apprehended and detained for questioning in connection with this case. Following the deputies’ interview, Hogan was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the aforementioned charges.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal expressed gratitude to the Jeanerette Fire and Police Departments for their assistance in this case.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
