Louisiana Man Arrested for Allegedly Severely Beating Another Person with a Piece of Rebar
Caddo Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested for allegedly severely beating another person with a piece of rebar.
On March 3, 2023, Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator announced that a Shreveport, Louisiana man was arrested for allegedly severely beating another person.
The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to a business in the 7100 block of LA-Hwy. 1 on January 4 after a man suffered serious injuries to his head and face. He was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance, and sheriff’s detectives were dispatched to take over the investigation.
An inquiry revealed that the victim was looking for a vehicle he loaned to a friend who did not follow the rules of usage. He located the vehicle while driving around in the 6700 block of LA-Hwy. 1, where he stopped and called for his friend from the shoulder of the road.
Phillip Hooker, 43, of Shreveport, Louisiana, who reportedly had no involvement with the vehicle, approached the victim while carrying a large piece of rebar and screamed. Hooker approached the victim and allegedly struck the victim in the head with the rebar before fleeing the scene. The man was knocked unconscious and awoke in the truck he was driving. He left the location and drove to a nearby business, where the sheriff’s office was summoned for assistance.
Sheriff’s Detective Justin Sundquist pursued all available leads in order to apprehend Hooker and secured an arrest warrant for aggravated second-degree battery with a bond of $250,000.
Hooker was arrested in the 2900 block of Despot Road in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 23 and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for the outstanding warrant as well as unrelated arrest warrants for possession of schedule II and violation of state probation.
