Sulphur, Louisiana - In September 2023, investigators from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, in collaboration with Homeland Security Investigations and the Louisiana Attorney General's Office, and as part of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, were given a lead by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding child sexual abuse material that had been stored in a Gmail account.

After conducting further investigation, around 46 videos and images depicting child sexual abuse material (CSAM) were discovered on an account belonging to Larry J. Burnett, a 29-year-old resident of Sulphur, Louisiana. On February 14, a warrant for Burnett's arrest was issued by Judge Tony Fazzio. The next day, detectives found him at his workplace and during their conversation, Burnett admitted to having CSAM in his possession. Consequently, he was taken into custody and booked at the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Burnett now faces 46 charges of possessing child pornography and his bond has been set at $400,000.

Detective Eric Perry from the Special Victims Unit of CPSO is in charge of investigating this case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
