Louisiana Man Arrested for Alleged Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile at a Shreveport Church
Shreveport, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested for alleged indecent behavior with a juvenile that occurred at a Shreveport church.
The Shreveport Police Department stated on April 3, 2023, that on March 30, police were notified regarding complaints of a sexual assault on a juvenile female. Shreveport Police Sex Crimes Unit detectives began an investigation following the claims that the incident occurred at a local church.
Based on the investigation’s findings, police arrested Miguel Perez, 73, on March 31, 2023, for one count of Indecent Behavior with a Juvenile.
According to authorities, indecent Behavior with A Juvenile is defined as any lewd or lascivious act upon the person or in the presence of any child under the age of seventeen, where there is an age difference of greater than two years between the two persons. Lack of knowledge of the child’s age shall not be a defense; or the transmission, delivery, or utterance of any textual, visual, written, or oral communication depicting lewd or lascivious conduct, text, words, or images to any person reasonably believed to be under the age of seventeen and reasonably believed to be at least two years younger than the offender. It shall not be a defense that the person who actually receives the transmission is not under the age of seventeen.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
