Louisiana Man Arrested for Aggravated Arson After Allegedly Setting Fire to a Home During a Domestic Dispute

Louisiana - The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office (LASFM) said on October 21, 2022, that it had arrested a Denham Springs man for allegedly setting fire to a mobile home after a domestic conflict.

Keith Mitchell, 46, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on one count of Aggravated Arson on Wednesday, October 19.

Livingston Parish Fire District #4 responded to a complaint of a mobile home fire in the 33000 block of Highway 1019 in Denham Springs, Louisiana on Tuesday, October 18. When firemen arrived, they discovered that a man and a woman were inside the dwelling at the time of the incident, but both were able to escape.

Following an investigation, LASFM deputies established that the fire started in a bedroom and was lit on purpose.

Deputies learned just before the fire that the two occupants were embroiled in a domestic argument. According to witness testimonies, Mitchell started a fire during the argument.
Following more investigation, a warrant for Mitchell's arrest was obtained, and the following day, Wednesday, October 19, LASFM deputies identified and arrested Mitchell.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
