Louisiana Man Arrested for 2nd Degree Cruelty to a Juvenile After a Child Was Found to Have Brain Bleed and Fractured Skull

Sulphur, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on November 28, 2022, that on November 14, detectives responded to a local hospital in relation to a 17-month-old child being treated for a brain bleed. The child was sent to a hospital outside of town, where it was discovered that the child had also suffered a skull fracture.

During the inquiry, investigators spoke with Logan R. Gauthier, 25, of Sulphur. Gauthier reportedly first told detectives conflicting accounts about how the child was injured. He then admitted to detectives that he was the one who caused the injuries.

On November 21, a warrant for Gauthier’s arrest was signed by Judge Tony Fazzio. He later turned himself in and was arrested, and placed in the Calcasieu Correctional Center, and charged with 2nd-degree cruelty to a juvenile. His bond is set at $225,000 dollars.

Detective Kara Adams of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the case’s lead investigator.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
