Louisiana Man Arrested Charged with Distribution of Fentanyl, Other Drug and Gun Charges

In the weeks leading up to January 20, 2022, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Narcotics and Louisiana State Police Narcotics conducted an investigation into John Kinchen’s alleged narcotics distribution in East Baton Rouge Parish. During this investigation, Agents conducted two controlled purchases of Fentanyl from Kinchen, which resulted in an arrest warrant for Kinchen for the distribution of Schedule II Fentanyl, as well as two search warrants for Kinchen’s residences. Kinchen was apprehended by East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Narcotics on January 19, 2022, with the assistance of EBRSO K-9. EBRSO Narcotics, LSP Narcotics, LSP Fugitive Task Force, LSP Gaming, and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office all carried out search warrants in East Baton Rouge and Ascension Parish at the same time.

John Kinchen, 32, was arrested and charged with 2 counts of distribution of CDS Schedule 2 (Fentanyl); possession with intent to distribute CDS Schedule 2 (Fentanyl); possession with intent to distribute CDS Schedule 2 (Amphetamine); possession with intent to distribute CDS Schedule 2 (Methamphetamine); possession with intent to distribute CDS Schedule 2 (Cocaine); possession with intent to distribute CDS Schedule 1(Marijuana); possession of a firearm with CDS; possession of a stolen firearm; drug paraphernalia.

The following was seized during the investigation:

  • 3.6 ounces of Fentanyl (approx. street value $9,000)
  • 1.65 ounces of Amphetamine
  • 20 grams of powder cocaine
  • 7 grams of methamphetamine
  • 12 ounces of Marijuana
  • $2,943 (pending seizure)
  • 5 handguns
  • 1 stolen handgun
  • Numerous high capacity magazines
  • Numerous items used to “cut” fentanyl

East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office K-9, East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol (Gardere Substation), Louisiana State Police Narcotics, Louisiana State Police Fugitive Task Force, Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, and a DEA Task Force assisted in the execution of the search warrants.
