Terrebonne Parish, Louisiana – In July 2025, a coordinated effort involving the Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit, the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led to the arrest of 42-year-old Jacob Parfait of Houma on charges related to the sexual exploitation of minors. The detailed investigation began after law enforcement agencies identified online activity associated with Parfait.
Authorities reported that as the investigation deepened, Parfait allegedly arranged to travel from his home in Houma to Grand Isle with the intention of engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor. According to detectives, such intent was discovered through evidence gathered during the operation.
On July 25, 2025, officers from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office joined LSP SVU detectives to arrest Parfait at his residence without incident. Parfait faces multiple felony charges, including one count each of computer-aided solicitation of a minor (Louisiana Revised Statute 14:81.3), indecent behavior with a juvenile (LA RS 14:81), and attempted carnal knowledge of a juvenile (LA RS 27:14:80). These charges reflect serious violations of Louisiana law designed to protect minors from online predators and exploitative situations.
Following his arrest, Parfait was booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex. At this time, investigators emphasize that the case remains active, with further details possibly emerging as evidence is reviewed and additional leads are pursued.
The Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit routinely collaborates with local and federal agencies to address crimes involving the exploitation of children.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
