Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening to Distribute Nude Photos of a Victim if She Did Not Pay Him

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to distribute nude photos of a victim if she did not pay him.

Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office (JDSO) stated on February 14, 2023, that detectives executed a search warrant at an address in the 1400 Block of 4th Street in Lake Arthur, Louisiana in relation to an Extortion Investigation.

On July 12, 2022, the Largo, Florida Police Department called Detectives and notified them that a victim was being financially extorted.

Michael J. Hines reportedly posed as a woman in order to obtain nude photographs of the victim. After getting the photos,  Michael James Hines allegedly threatened to distribute the victim’s photographs if she did not pay him $1,000.

Detectives gathered sufficient evidence to issue an arrest warrant for Hines.

Michael James Hines, age 47, was apprehended and placed in the Parish Jail for Extortion, Computer Fraud, Online Impersonation, and Criminal Use of the Internet during the execution of the search warrant.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
