Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening to Burn Down the Home of Someone Who Accused Him of a Crime

Union Parish, Louisiana – A man from Louisiana was arrested after he allegedly threatened to burn down the home of someone who accused him of a crime.

According to the Union Parish Sheriff’s Office (UPSO), deputies responded to a disturbance in the Downsville, Louisiana community of Point. The caller stated that a man had threatened to shoot them and burn down their home and was currently causing a disturbance in the roadway.

Deputies responded to the scene and swiftly apprehended the suspect, Dustin Ellis Roberts, 29, of Downsville, Louisiana. Deputies were told by witnesses that Roberts threatened to shoot them and burn down their home. Roberts reportedly stated that he was upset with them because they accused him of burglarizing a home. According to the inquiry, Roberts allegedly stood in the street screaming profanities at the victim and shoved them at one point.

Roberts was arrested and taken to the Union Parish Detention Center, where he was charged with False Information of Planned Arson, Simple Assault, Simple Battery, and Disturbing the Peace with Loud and Profane Words. A 3rd District judge placed his bond at $15,000.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
