Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Shooting A Person and Trespassing on Sherry Street in Sulphur

Sulphur, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested for allegedly shooting a person on Sherry Street in Sulphur.

Around 4:00 a.m. on August 1, 2023, deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office were called to a medical emergency at a house on Sherry Street in Sulphur, Louisiana. When the deputies arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound.

Throughout the early stages of the investigation, investigators identified a potential suspect, 23-year-old Erron E. Fontenot from Sulphur, Louisiana. They speculated that he might be concealed somewhere in the vicinity where the incident took place. Officers established a perimeter and initiated a search for Fontenot. Around 10:00 a.m., they found Fontenot concealed under a mobile home, just one street away from the crime scene. He was apprehended and subsequently booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where he faces charges of trespassing.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives obtained a warrant from Judge Tony Fazzio to additionally charge Fontenot with attempted second-degree murder pertaining to the shooting. He currently has a bail set at $250,000.

Initially, the injured individual was taken to a nearby hospital. Afterward, he was moved to another hospital located in a different town and is reported to be in a severe health condition.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
