Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Setting Fire to His Home, Threatening a Nearby Occupied House

Louisiana – The Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office (LASFM) reported on May 24, 2022, that they had arrested a Lake Providence, Louisiana man for allegedly setting fire to his home, threatening the occupied house next door. Clarence Davis, 37, was arrested on May 23 for Aggravated Arson and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

According to LASFM, the Lake Providence Fire Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 1200 block of Hanford Street in the early morning hours of May 16. While no one was inside the house at the time of the fire, at least one resident was sleeping inside the house next door, which suffered exposure damage. Following an examination of the scene, deputies determined that the fire was intentionally started in the home’s living room area. Deputies identified Davis, the homeowner, as a suspect in the case based on witness statements and evidence gathered.

During the investigation, deputies discovered Davis was a convicted felon and discovered three weapons in his fire-damaged home.

An arrest warrant was obtained after an interview with deputies, and Davis was booked in connection with the case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
