Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Getting Into a Shootout with a Repossession Agent, Entering Someone’s Home, and Driving Into a Police Car

On October 5, 2022, Caddo Parish Steve Prator announced that the man who allegedly shot at a repossession agent and damaged private property on October 4 has been booked into jail on multiple charges.

At 10:27 a.m. on October 4, the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office began receiving calls from individuals reporting gunfire in the Greenwood Road vicinity. A witness reported a shooting at the Red Dot Storage facility at 8890 Greenwood Road. When Caddo patrol deputies arrived, they were told the incident started when two men exchanged gunfire.
According to Detective Vincent Jackson, 42-year-old Samuel McMurry took a riffle from his GMC pickup truck after a repossession agent notified him he was going to take two of McMurry’s 18-wheeler trucks due to nonpayment. The repossession agent returned fire with a handgun. After McMurry fired a second shot, the repossession agent brought out another firearm and fired a shot that reportedly grazed McMurry’s head.

McMurry then reportedly exited his truck, leaped over a fence, walked inside a Greenwood Elderly Apartments residence, climbed out the bathroom window, and rushed back to his GMC truck, which was transporting an RV.

McMurry disregarded a Greenwood Police officer who requested him to surrender. The officer opened fire on McMurry as he accelerated, causing him to collide with the police car and a bystander’s parked 18-wheeler. The GMC pickup eventually came to a halt after flipping on its side.

Caddo Fire District 1 transported McMurry to the hospital for treatment. He was later booked into the Caddo Correctional Center and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Unauthorized Entry of Inhabited Dwelling, Aggravated Assault with Motor Vehicle on Peace Officer, Possession Of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
