Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Being Found Unconscious in Possession of Fentanyl in a Vehicle with a Child

Louisiana – The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on October 17, 2022, that on October 15, 2022, deputies were called to Henry’s Truckstop in Lacassine, Louisiana, in relation to a reckless motorist at approximately 11:00 a.m.

Deputies arrived to find a white male unconscious in the driver’s seat of a blue Ford F-150. The vehicle’s engine was running, and a four-year-old unrestrained child was in the front passenger seat.

Authorities reported that the motorist was first unconscious before moving and opening his eyes. The driver was awake, but he was not acting normally. The driver requested paramedics, claiming dizziness, and continued to nod off and react with slurred speech.

Deputies removed the driver from the vehicle and discovered a lighter and a small transparent bag containing suspected narcotics during a pat down. The powdery material tested positive for fentanyl according to police.

Arnold Keith Harrell II, 41, of Hayes, Louisiana, was taken to Ochsner Hospital Jennings by Acadian ambulance. After being discharged, Harrell was arrested for possession of CDS II and illegal use of CDS in the presence of a minor.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
