Louisiana Man Arrested After Allegedly Beating, Sexually Assaulting, and Threatening Victim with a Knife in Lake Arthur

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A man from Louisiana was arrested after allegedly beating, sexually assaulting, and threatening a victim with a knife in Lake Arthur.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on May 22, 2023, that deputies were summoned to Tiger Mart in Lake Arthur, Louisiana, in response to a disturbance. The alleged disturbance occurred on Andrus Cove Cemetery Road according to authorities. The victim described being beaten and sexually assaulted, as well as choked and held at knifepoint.

After the suspect fell asleep, the victim was able to flee. During the escape, the suspect attempted to run over the victim and two others who assisted her. When they fled, the suspect ran into the rear of the complainant’s vehicle.

Maxxwell Kirk Charles, 25, of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, was arrested and booked into the parish jail by deputies. Charles is charged with Battery of a dating partner, aggravated battery, 2nd-degree rape, aggravated criminal damage to property, and aggravated battery.
