Louisiana Man Arrested Accused of Shooting Another Man and Fleeing While Holding an Infant Child

Ascension Parish, Louisiana – A Louisiana man has been arrested after being accused of shooting another man and fleeing the scene while holding an infant child

According to Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre, deputies responded to reports of a male subject suffering from a gunshot wound near John Leblanc Blvd. and Airline Highway on Monday, February 6, 2023, at approximately 12:34 a.m.

Deputies tracked down a vehicle matching the description and spoke with the driver. The victim advised deputies that he had been shot by Tyron Jones, 35, of St. Amant, Louisiana at a residence along Highway 22. Jones, according to the victim, was holding his infant child when he fired shots at the victim and fled the scene. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is expected to recover.

The Sheriff’s Office in Ascension Parish began an active search in the area where Jones was last seen. Deputies responded to a call at about 8:00 a.m. about a male subject holding an infant child and knocking on a door to a residence on Highway 22. Deputies identified the subject as Tyron Jones when they arrived. He was arrested without incident.

The infant had no obvious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for observation. Tyron is charged with attempted second-degree murder, child endangerment, child desertion, illegal use of weapons, and aggravated criminal damage to property. 

Authorities also indicated that the investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
