Louisiana Man and Woman Arrested For Alleged Burglary and Theft of Catalytic Converters After Concerned Citizens Report Suspicious Activity

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – A Louisiana man and woman have been arrested for alleged burglary and theft of catalytic converters after concerned citizens reported suspicious activity.

West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff Mike Cazes reported on April 18, 2023, that on April 1, shortly after 7:00 a.m., a concerned citizen saw a female in a Ford Focus with the hood up sitting on the shoulder in the 2600 block of US HWY 190 E. While in the vicinity, a concerned individual noticed a male departing a business on foot wearing dark attire and carrying what appeared to be a duffel bag. After placing the bag in the trunk, the male entered the Ford Focus and headed east toward Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office was alerted, and the Baton Rouge Police Department was notified as well. BRPD made contact with the vehicle at a business near Scenic/Mason. The driver was arrested by BRPD on unrelated charges.

According to reports from authorities, a search of the Ford Focus yielded various burglary tools (battery-operated saw, multiple saw blades) and three catalytic converters, which were verified as having been removed from automobiles at a local business in West Baton Rouge Parish near where the Ford was on US HWY 190. Within the suspect’s vehicle, there was also dark clothing, flashlights, several cell phones, binoculars, and several pairs of work gloves.

Joshua Idusuyi, 31, and Sharelle Idusuyi, 31, both from Baker, Louisiana were arrested as a result of the investigation. The pair were charged with Simple Burglary, Theft of Catalytic Converters, and Possession of Burglary tools.

The West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office thanked the Baton Rouge Police Department for their assistance.
