Louisiana Man Allegedly Steals Boat Motor After Owner Tells Him it is Not for Sale

Jeff Davis Parish, Louisiana – A Sulphur, Louisiana man allegedly stole a boat motor after the owner reportedly told him it was not for sale.

The Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office stated on February 13, 2023, that detectives began investigating the theft of a boat motor from Windmill Lane in Iowa, Louisiana on January 13, 2023.

During the course of the investigation, it was learned that a person had inquired about the boat and motor. The victim stated that the motor was not for sale, and shortly thereafter, it was taken.
The investigation led officers to a home in Sulphur, Louisiana, where the boat motor was discovered.

Dustin Wade Arrant, 22, of East Burton Street in Sulphur, Louisiana, turned himself in to the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office on February 13, 2023, and reportedly confessed to stealing the boat motor.

Arrant was booked into the parish jail for Theft and Simple Burglary.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
