Iberville Parish, Louisiana - Just before midnight on March 3, 2024, Louisiana State Police Troop A officers arrived at the scene of a solo car crash on LA Hwy 75 in Iberville Parish, west of LA Hwy 992-3. Sadly, the crash resulted in the death of Arvin S. Woodfork, a 53-year-old resident of Plaquemine, Louisiana.
Initial findings showed that Woodfork was driving a 2005 Lincoln Town Car heading west on LA Hwy 75. For reasons that are still unclear, the car veered off the road to the left. It then went into a ditch, hit a culvert, and finally came to a stop in a field. Woodfork was thrown out of the car and was declared dead at the scene.
Authorities indicated that it is not known if Woodfork was impaired, but samples have been taken for analysis. It is also unclear if Woodfork was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
Louisiana State Troopers are urging drivers to remember the significance of making responsible choices while operating vehicles. Avoid driving under the influence, when tired, or while distracted, always be sure that all passengers are securely buckled up, and obey all traffic regulations. While not all crashes can be avoided, following these basic safety measures can potentially save lives.
