Jeanerette, Louisiana - On the afternoon of July 24, 2025, a serious crash involving a juvenile pedestrian occurred on Louisiana Highway 674, also known as East Admiral Doyle Drive, near Whitney Drive in Iberia Parish. According to Louisiana State Police Troop I, 11-year-old Nahelie Sinitiere of Jeanerette, Louisiana, was struck by a 2007 Honda Civic while attempting to cross the highway.

Preliminary findings show that Sinitiere was crossing from the eastbound shoulder when the vehicle, headed east, collided with her in the eastbound lane. Authorities report that the driver of the Honda Civic was properly restrained and not injured in the incident. The driver showed no signs of impairment and voluntarily provided a breath sample, which confirmed that no alcohol was detected.

Sinitiere was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Despite medical efforts, she died from her injuries on July 28. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and law enforcement has not indicated any immediate factors beyond what has been reported.
