Saint Rose, Louisiana – A fiery crash on Interstate 310 in St. Charles Parish Tuesday evening has left one woman dead and another person seriously injured after a suspected impaired driver struck their vehicle from behind.

The incident occurred just after 8:00 p.m. on April 29, 2025, when a 2024 Ram collided with a Honda sedan traveling northbound on I-310 near US 61. The impact caused the Honda to ignite, according to Louisiana State Police Troop B investigators.

Kenia Alvarado, 29, of Metairie, Louisiana, who was riding as a passenger in the Honda, suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The Honda driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Due to the extensive damage from the crash and subsequent fire, investigators have not yet determined if either occupant was wearing a seatbelt.

Gary Entremont, 43, of Montz, Louisiana, who was driving the Ram, exhibited “multiple signs of impairment” following the crash, according to state police. Entremont, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered only minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment before being arrested.

Investigators secured breath and blood samples from Entremont, though toxicology results are still pending. He now faces multiple charges, including reckless operation of a motor vehicle, driving while impaired (first offense), negligent homicide, and negligent injuring.

Entremont was booked into the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center in St. Charles Parish as the investigation continues.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
