Harvey, Louisiana – A tragic crash occurred on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 7:11 p.m., on US 90B at Manhattan Boulevard in Jefferson Parish, claiming the life of 53-year-old Jose Bueso-Siguense of Gretna, Louisiana. According to the Louisiana State Police Troop B, the preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Toyota Rav4 was stopped behind a 2006 Chevrolet HHR due to traffic congestion on the elevated portion of US 90B. At the same time, a 2012 Nissan Titan, driven by 43-year-old Felipe Reyes-Ventura of Gretna, was entering the elevated portion of US 90B from Lafayette Street. For reasons still under investigation, the Nissan impacted the rear of the Toyota, which was then pushed forward, impacting the rear of the Chevrolet.
Bueso-Siguense, the front seat passenger of the Nissan, was unrestrained and suffered serious injuries. He was transported to a local hospital, where he died. Reyes-Ventura, who was restrained at the time of the crash, was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The drivers and passengers of the Toyota and Chevrolet were all properly restrained, suffered minor injuries, and were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Police indicated that during the investigation, Reyes-Ventura displayed signs of impairment, and toxicology samples were obtained for analysis. Reyes-Ventura was subsequently arrested and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center for vehicular homicide, three counts of vehicular negligent injuring, reckless operation, and no driver’s license. This crash remains under investigation, and the Louisiana State Police urge motorists to plan ahead before consuming alcohol.
