Denham Springs, Louisiana - Shortly before midnight on Jan. 30, 2026, an 18-year-old driver from North Carolina was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 1032 and Hunter’s Way in Livingston Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A responded to the scene, where they found a 2008 Honda Accord and a 2022 Ford F-150 had collided. The Honda’s driver, identified as 18-year-old Cayden Callihan of Whiteville, North Carolina, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sequence of the Crash
A preliminary investigation by State Police indicates that Callihan was driving the 2008 Honda Accord east on Hunter’s Way as he approached the intersection with LA 1032. At the same time, the 2022 Ford F-150 was traveling south on LA 1032.
For reasons still under investigation, investigators say Callihan attempted to turn left onto LA 1032 and entered the path of the southbound Ford F-150. The pickup then struck the Honda on its left side, causing significant damage.
Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the incident, troopers reported.
Injuries and On-Scene Findings
Despite wearing a seat belt, Callihan suffered serious injuries in the crash and was pronounced deceased on the scene by emergency personnel. The driver of the Ford F-150, who was also properly restrained, sustained minor injuries.
No additional injuries were reported, and authorities have not released the name of the Ford driver.
Impairment and Toxicology Testing
Louisiana State Police reported that impairment is not suspected at this time. However, as is standard procedure in fatal crashes, routine toxicology samples will be obtained from the drivers and submitted for analysis. Toxicology tests check for the presence of alcohol or drugs that could affect driving ability.
Results of those tests were not immediately available, and troopers have not released any further information about possible contributing factors, such as speed, lighting conditions, or roadway design.
Ongoing Investigation
The crash remains under investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop A. Troopers will continue to review physical evidence from the scene, statements from those involved, and any available data or records that may help determine exactly how the incident occurred.
No charges have been announced, and authorities have not indicated whether any citations may be issued pending the outcome of the investigation.
